MELA Market in English

Buy and sell YouTube channels, with proof first.

MELA Market (melamarket.org) is a marketplace launched in September 2026 in Dakar, Senegal, by the registered business MELA GROUP (RCCM SN.DKR.2026.A.41432), to buy and sell YouTube channels in French-speaking Africa, as well as TikTok accounts and Facebook Pages. Sellers prove ownership by placing a code in the channel description, with no password shared, and buyers pay MELA, never the seller directly. MELA holds the money while ownership is transferred, then pays the seller once the buyer confirms receipt.

The site itself is in French. This page summarises how it works. Version française. Last updated .

How the money is held

  1. The buyer picks a listing. The price, the MELA protection fee and the total are shown on the listing.
  2. The buyer pays MELA, never the seller directly. The seller hands nothing over before MELA shows “Money received”.
  3. The seller hands over the channel or account, with the method shown on the listing (see below). Every step has a timer visible to both sides.
  4. The buyer confirms. MELA then pays 100% of the price to the seller, in one payment, to their mobile money account.
  5. At any time while MELA still holds the money, “I have a problem” freezes it: the team reviews the case and decides to refund the buyer or pay the seller.

Payment methods: mobile money where the checkout offers it (Wave, Orange Money, MTN Mobile Money, Max it) and bank card (Visa, Mastercard). The money of an order is only used for that order: it is paid to the seller concerned or, if a dispute is decided in the buyer’s favour, refunded to the buyer. Details in French: Transparence.

YouTube: the official ownership transfer

YouTube has an official tool to change the owner of a channel linked to a Brand Account: the owner invites the buyer as an Owner, and the buyer can become the Primary owner after 7 days (YouTube Help). This is the default method on MELA, with no password at all. MELA pays the seller only once primary ownership has moved to the buyer. The AdSense account does not move with the channel: the new owner links their own, and YouTube may review monetisation.

What the YouTube, TikTok and Meta rules say

  • YouTube provides the official Brand Account transfer described above. MELA is not responsible for monetisation or for YouTube’s decisions after the sale.
  • TikTok has no transfer tool, and its Terms of Service forbid selling, buying or transferring an account. A purchased TikTok account can be restricted or removed by TikTok at any time, and MELA cannot prevent it. For TikTok, the seller places the login details in an encrypted folder that only the buyer can open, once; the MELA team never sees it, and it is erased at the latest 48 hours after the handover. If no access is handed over, the buyer is refunded.
  • Meta provides an official way to give someone full control of a Facebook Page, but its Terms forbid transferring your account or rights without Meta’s consent, and Meta can restrict a Page whose admins, name or topic change abruptly.

Passwords. No password is ever needed to prove ownership. YouTube and Facebook handovers use the platform’s official tool, without a password (unless a YouTube seller chooses the access handover). The MELA team never asks for your password.

Fees

  • Signing up and publishing a listing are free. The seller receives exactly the asking price.
  • The buyer pays a MELA protection fee on top of the price. Mobile money: 7% of the price up to 500,000 FCFA, then 5% on the part above (minimum 1,000 FCFA).
  • Bank card: 7% of the full price, for sales up to 2,000,000 FCFA. A sale paid by card is paid out to the seller 7 days after payment at the earliest.

Amounts in FCFA (CFA franc). The fee is shown on every listing before payment.
